Welcome to Kent City Community Schools!

Each year students from Kent City's high school art program participate in a congressional art competition started by Congressman, Vernon J. Ehlers.  The competition is called ARTFEST.

Each art teacher or a principal if the school does not have an art teacher can enter 3 pieces to represent their school.  Each student whose work was selected to represent their school was presented with an award and had their picture taken with Congressman Ehlers.  A judge picked the one winner whose work would hang in Washington DC for a year and the student was awarded 2 airplane tickets to DC.  Unfortunately, there is only one winner and it was not a KC student.   The art work hung at the Gerald R. Ford Museum from April 7-April 17.  The awards reception and ceremony was April 17.

Below are the 3 pieces of art that Gail Termeer chose to represent Kent City Community Schools!  Congratulations to our high school artists!

Dena Bliss created, "What's in Your Heart," a repeated block print.

Jessie Coronado created: "Geometric Frenzy" with oil pastels and water color paints.

Chelsea Clay created a black and white print.
