District Goal Statements (Brief Overview):

 Goal#1:      The Board will develop, implement, and evaluate annually our vision, mission, goals, priorities, and policies

Kent City Community Schools  -  District Goals

Goals 1-4 indicate the Board & Superintendent’s primary focus over the next 3 years.  Within each goal area, strategies are numbered in order of established priority for implementation

Goal#1: The Board will develop, implement, and evaluate annually our vision, mission, goals, priorities, & policies.

1.      Engage in strategic planning to develop our vision, mission, goals, priorities, and policies.

2.      Delegate the planning and implementation of specific strategies to the Superintendent, and evaluate the success of the Superintendent.

3.      Continue to be fiscally responsible while providing funding to implement goals/strategies

Goal#2: Improve Leadership for Instruction (admin)

1.      Develop common vision of instructional leadership

·         Raise expectation for administrators as instructional leaders

2.      Improve quality of school improvement plans

·         Including goals, research, strategies, & PD

3.      Improve utilization of student data

·         Apply data dialogue to drive instruction

·         Implement collaborative improvement model

4.      Raise expectations for staff

·         Increase quality of professional development

Goal#3: Improve Student Achievement

1.      Raise academic standards / expectations

·         Develop plan for new HS graduation requirements

·         Increase achievement of all students

2.      Increase accountability

·         Key Strategy: Implement student credentialing

·         Student credentialing is the process of each student “proving” that s/he has mastered a set of objectives

3.      Improve Curriculum, Assessment, & Instruction

A.  Emphasize preparing students for life

·         Implement a Career Preparation System (secondary)

·         Improve College Preparation Courses (secondary)

B.     Identify the viable curriculum

·         The viable curriculum is the set of objectives that will be used in student credentialing; it’s a subset of the State Standards)

C.     Communicate expectations

·         Criteria for achievement of viable curriculum (rubric)

·         Use graphic organizers to communicate connections

D.     Provide Differentiated Instruction

·         Provide programming to meet the needs of at-risk students (apply pyramid of interventions)

·         Provide programming to meet the needs of academically advanced students

E.      Utilize technology integrated into learning

1.      Promote healthy living choices

·         Implement district student wellness plan

·         Provide connected curriculum, activities, etc

·         Add “life skills course” - grade 12

2.      Implement character development program

·         Develop positive character traits

·         Develop student self-esteem

·         Develop respect for the dignity and self-worth of each individual

3.      Encourage participation in co / extra curricular activities

1.      Implement marketing plan

1.      Provide a safe & secure learning environment

·         Implement a long-range maintenance schedule for buildings and grounds; and evaluate annually

·         Implement a long-range facility improvement plan; and evaluate annually
